Eurasian Eagle Owl - Isle of Wight
Eurasian Eagle Owl – Bubo Bubo The name of the Eurasian Eagle Owl is quite misleading as this wonderful bird of prey belongs to the European Eagle owl family. It is very much larger than those we are used to seeing in the UK - about 28 inches in height, with a wing span of around 6ft. Noticeable features are the ear tufts and the heavy-duty talons, suitable for carrying prey as heavy as a young deer. You can see this bird from Europe across Russia, Iran, Pakistan and China, its habitat in remote rocky areas and river ravines.
